Dear Mom and Dad,

Hi! Sorry about last week (short email), we didn’t even have time to do shopping. But we
had plenty of food stocked up and we had some meals from the members.
So, I’m spending one more transfer with Elder Leighton, this is actually
our second week into the transfer. This is the first time that I’ve
had a companion for two transfer and that I’ve stayed in an area for
three transfers. One of us is likely to move next transfer because
Elder Leighton just got his driving licence, three transfer before he
leaves, so they are probably going to move him where a car is and I
might end up training another missionary soon (in Rhyl). I will be honest, though,
I preferred the city for missionary work. We are still doing good work here
but I actually liked Blackpool better. Most of this town knows us by
sight and every street has been tracted recently, so it’s quite hard to
have someone listen to you when they already think they have heard
enough. The work is still going good.

In fact, I can actually give you first names in emails. K who’s name is
Kenneth is going to get baptized the 27 of Feb–he just has to kick the
smoking habit and he is determined to do so. He feels that God is
guiding him away from Witnesses, in fact, he was quite upset with them
because they promised to visit him for Bible study but they never
showed up.  He says that we show up all the time just to see
how he is and chat, then even study a bit, so that’s good.
And then Beth and Yezmin are both back on track for baptism. They both want to be
baptized as soon as Beth kicks her smoking habit. Pray that Beth and
Kenneth can do that.

The winter has been a bit hard here, less people want to talk in bad
weather. But, we only have one more month of bad winter so hopefully it
will go by fast. December was actually quite warm. Last Saturday was
ice cold but thankfully it wasn’t raining.

We have a new sister missionary in Rhyl. She is from the Philippines.
Her name is Sister Oli. She converted two years ago from Catholicism, she was
the first one in her family to convert.

Thanks for the video and the emails as always.

Email you next week !

DSCN0596.JPGA view of the beach you can see they have hundreds of windmills right off the shore. And my companion drew me as Iron man.

 Dear Mom and Dad,
Sorry again (for the short email). Mom I love you and things are going well. My companion had driving lessons which he did great on so hopefully he passes the test this Thursday.
That Granny was nice  and if I ever see her again I’ll tell her that you said thanks. I hope I drive soon too, I heard from other missionaries that I get 15% discount back home on insurance if I get a U.K. Drivers licence. I miss the snow this year. Wow, I can’t wait to get the new Christmas CD, I remember Musicality being really good.
I got a few cultural keepsakes from Rhyl now, and I actually have many keepsakes that were given to me by random people who wanted to give me something.
I feel a bit more seasoned (as a missionary) and I still feel like it’s flying past. You know it’s hard to know if you have changed or not, but I think that I have. I did get a little sick this week. I won’t be letting sickness stop me though, so I just went and did the work.
Love you Mom and Dad.  I’m really sorry about not giving you a full email –next week I promise.
Bye
From Elder Maughan
